THE SEX LIFE OF JESUS

While Jesus hung on the cross and was dying he fantasized about making love to Mary Magdalene. A lot of people demonstrated outside theatres against this scene in the 1988 movie.

The traditional view of Jesus precludes him from being or having a "lover" – not even in fantasy. Jesus: "in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sinning." (The Bible: Hebrews 4:15)

Could the traditional view of Jesus "without sin" be correct when it comes to his sex life?

The Bible clearly and consistently condemns any form of premarital sex, whether as adultery, fornication, homosexuality or prostitution.

One important reason for such abstinence is to stay healthy and avoid sickness. (Psalm 38; Proverbs 5-7; Romans 1:27)

The Bible further counsels against joking along sexual lines or thinking unvirtuous thoughts. (Philippians 4:8-10; Ephesians 5)

Jesus said: "Everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:28)

Some people ask: "What about 'wet dreams'?"

Christian males who lead ascetic life-styles report that if sexual fantasies are avoided for some time then "nocturnal emissions" continue but without any erotic dreams. If Christians, though physically normal, sometimes succeed in such a life why doubt it in Jesus?

An Australian contraceptive vaccine that suppresses the sex drive in horses and cattle is currently undergoing field trials. The Sunday Mail (1989, February 5, p. 35) reports it could work in humans! But who would buy a sexual desire suppressant?

The Christian method of "self control" is based on prayer, keeping "busy in fine works", and in the "power of God".

The sex life of Jesus was zero.
